The popularly known broadcast journalist has recently sparked massive stir, debates and arguments across all social media platforms after he boldly sent another strong message to the speaker of parliament, Alban Bagbin over the abolition of road tolls in the country by the incumbent government and the roads minister, Kwasi Amoako Atta.

Speaking on the most anticipated “Good Evening Ghana” show on metro TV, the prominent broadcast journalist and presenter, Paul Adom Okyere took the privilege to share his immense thoughts and opinions over the speaker of parliament, Alban Bagbin’s new directive that ordered the roads and highways minister, Kwasi Amoako Atta to reverse the abolition of collection of road tolls at the various checkpoints across the country since the most anticipated 2022 budget had not been passed in parliament.

According to Paul Adom Okyere, the majority leader, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu made a scholarly analysis and argument in parliament over the roads and highways minister, Kwasi Amoako Atta’s directive to close tollbooths at the various checkpoints after airing of the most anticipated 2022 budget.

In addition to that, Paul Adom Okyere highlighted that, the speaker of parliament, Alban Bagbin was not elected by the people of Ghana and so therefore, he is only able to carry the decisions of parliament to the other arms of government but he cannot carry his own personal directives in his capacity as speaker and that, Alban Bagbin wasn’t part of the incumbent government even though the parliament is part of the government.

“You cannot do that; you’re not part of the government. The parliament is part of the government; when the legislative arm pass a resolution, the speaker can carry that out”, Paul Adom Okyere emphatically stated.
